The canonization of Pope John Paul II became possible - the second miracle is confirmed by the congregation

Pope Francis decided to canonize the pontiff John Paul II, who died in 2005, will inform the portal vesti.ru. The date of the ceremony is still unknown, but it is assumed that the solemn event may be timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the election of Karol Wojtyla as pontiff.

On July 2, the Vatican Congregation at the plenary meeting confirmed the “second miracle” - “inexplicable healing” that occurred thanks to John Paul II on May 1, 2011 (six years after the death of the pontiff). The official Vatican does not provide details, however, as regions.ru suggests, we are talking about a woman living in Costa Rica and completely cured of a severe brain damage as a result of the prayers of John Paul II. The moment of healing came on the date of the beatification (confession blissful) of the deceased pontiff.

The canonization of Pope John Paul II became possible - the second miracle is confirmed by the congregationThe first miracle - the healing of Parkinson's disease is almost completely paralyzed by the French nun Marie Simon-Pierre - happened two months after the death of John Paul II.

Since May 13, 2005, when Benedict XVI agreed to the early beatification of his predecessor, the sisters of the monastery began, in the course of joint prayers, to ask the late pontiff for intercession for Sister Marie before God. In less than three weeks, neurological examinations confirmed that the woman is healthy.

The healing of the 49-year-old sister Marie was recognized by the clergy by a miracle in January 2011. Prior to this, the nun's medical history was examined by a special medical commission, which could not explain the woman’s recovery by natural science.

However, the rules of the Vatican require two officially confirmed miracles to be announced to the saints. The evidence of the second miracle was provided in January 2013 by the postulate (a kind of lawyer collecting information on the actions of the righteous man) in the case of the canonization of John Paul II, the Polish priest Slawomir Oder.

Recall that earlier in the Institute of canonization there was a position, officially called the “faith builder”, and unofficially the “devil's advocate”. The functions of the “devil's advocate” included collecting counter-arguments that could prevent canonization or beatification. Since 1983, Pope John Paul II, this post has been abolished.
