Marriage in Japanese: Platonic love or an acute lack of time?

Couples of the Land of the Rising Sun, as shown by the results of the poll, on average, perform their marital debt a little more than one and a half times a month, and half of them do without sex. This is with reference to the Japanese newspaper "Asahi Shimbun" reports portal newsru.com.

The study, which resulted in such shocking figures, was conducted by the oldest condom manufacturer, Sagami Rubber Industries Co, who apparently noticed a drop in demand for its polyurethane products.

Interviewing 14,100 people aged 20–69, the company's specialists learned that 55.2% of married respondents consider their lives to be intimate. Among married men aged 40 to 59, over 60% admitted to purely platonic relationships with partners.

It is fair to say that, as opposed to the "married women" among the familyless residents of Japan, only 29% lead a life without sex.

On average, officially registered Japanese couples remember about sex 1.7 times a month, living a civil marriage - 4.1 times. The reason for this “forgetfulness”, as the respondents said, is “unwillingness of a partner” and “lack of time”.

Marriage in Japanese: Platonic love or an acute lack of time?Gay marriage, so common in the Land of the Rising Sun, can hardly be called a typical Japanese miracle. About a month ago, a similar study was conducted in the UK. According to The Daily Mail, about 20% of married couples do not consider sex in marriage something important (the frequency of love visits in such unions does not exceed ten per year), 5% do without sex at all.

American experts on family and marriage are sounding the alarm, and the president of the United States sexologists association, Patti Britton, already calls the rise in the number of platonic marriages "epidemic".
